Two of the biggest names to grace the bluenote in recent history have become almost synonymous with each other. Brendan Shanahan and Scott Stevens could have been integral pieces to the St. Louis Blues’ quest for a championship in the early 90’s. Instead, they would both go on to find greater success with other teams.
On this day, 25 years ago, the Blues signed Shanahan to a four-year, $5 million dollar deal. While those numbers were big back then, nobody realized what the true cost would be.
The Blues brought in Stevens as a big offseason signing before the 1990-91 season.
