The St. Louis Blues have two restricted free agents they need to sign, Ivan Barbashev and Joel Edmundson. Barbashev seems likely to resign at a reasonable rate, but Edmundson is asking for much more.
Eilliotte Friedman reported that Edmundson is asking for a contract worth $4.2 million for the upcoming season. The team, meanwhile, is asking for a rate of $2.3 million.
The difference between the two sides is significant because of the Blues cap situation. The team is nearing the limit allowed by the NHL, and according to CapFriendly, the team has just over $5 million remaining.
