Gawdin is considered a meat-and-potatoes kind of player, a solid player but whose skating is holding him back. He’s better on the cycle than the rush, likely due to his skating, but isn’t the type to quarterback a play or to astound with his hands or skating. Gawdin’s defensive play is the highlight of his game.
He’s an all-around player, able to work the point as well as step up on the penalty kill and the power play.
