SB Nation’s video arm, Secret Base, has several excellent videos up behind the best rivalries in hockey. This week, they finally got around to highlighting the Blues and the Blackhawks: specifically, the St. Patrick’s Day Massacre.
This year was the 30th anniversary of the game that saw 12 ejections, three suspensions, and 278 penalty minutes. Look at the box score. Take it all in. Savor it. You may never see a box score like this again in your lifetime.
Of course, the whole mess started with Jeremy Roenick. Actually, to be more accurate, the whole mess started in 1967 when the Blues entered the league, but what happened in 1991 is probably the pinnacle of hatred between these two clubs.
