Entering into Sunday’s arbitration meeting, it appeared that the Blues and defenseman Joel Edmundson were far apart in terms of salary. Edmundson and his agent submitted a salary figure of $4.2 million, a substantial raise over last season’s salary of $3 million. The Blues, on the other hand, suggested a salary cut down to $2.3 million.
Neither side probably expected the arbitrator to agree with them, and they were right.
Edmundson was signed today to a one year deal worth $3.1 million, a slight raise for a season that saw a production decline and time spent in the playoff pressbox while still scoring a goal and six assists.
