The game demonstrated progress since the Vegas game. There was effort, aggression, connection, and purpose. However, it’s still not enough. The Blues need wins.
One minute and fifty seconds into the game, Nathan Walker was credited with a goal that deflected off a Toronto player. The goal came after Alexey Toropchenko and Oskar Sundqvist established an aggressive forecheck in the offensive zone. The Blues were off to a good start until about four minutes later, when defenseman Jake McCabe flicked a wrist shot from the point, through traffic, and over Jordan Binnington’s left shoulder, tying the game at one.
