St. John's basketball early first half surge leads to first Big East win over DePaul

The St. John’s basketball team was hoping that Tuesday night in Queens was a glimpse into the future.

The No. 22 Red Storm were crisp, decisive, and assertive in the opening 15 minutes against DePaul and that’s all it needed to get to the finish line victorious.

After building an 18-point cushion, 37-19, late in the first half St. John’s kept the Blue Demons at an arm’s length away throughout the 79-66 victory behind the resurgence of Dylan Darling.

Darling finished the game with 17 points, six rebounds, and two assists on 5-of-9 shooting – including 4-of-6 makes from 3-point range.
