The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has announced it has joined the Sports for Climate Action initiative by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
By signing the UNFCCC’s Framework Agreement, the GEF commits to ensuring that the esports sector is ‘on the path to a low-carbon future’.
The five core principles of the Framework Agreement include promoting greater environmental responsibility, reducing the overall climate impact from esports and sports, promoting sustainable and responsible consumption, educating on climate action, and advocating for climate action through communications.
