Forwards Dom Dwyer and Jacob Peterson powered Sporting Kansas City to a comprehensive 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday at Children's Mercy Park.
Dwyer netted a brace, could have scored a third if only for a phenomenal save from Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei, and wreaked continuous havoc on a Seattle side that was overwhelmed and outclassed from beginning to end. The English striker, who tallied a game-high six shots and created three scoring chances, was justly rewarded on Monday with a spot on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.
A fifth-year MLS veteran, Dwyer made club history on Sunday by becoming the third Sporting Kansas City player to reach double-digit goals in three separate regular seasons.
