The players were pieced together over an eight-month process, a group of athletes who were mostly unfamiliar with one another. As a result, the Swope Park Rangers endured an expectedly slow start to their inaugural season.
But they’ve sure come on strong in the latter months.
On Saturday, the Rangers ensured their first season will conclude with a trip to the United Soccer League championship.
The Rangers picked up their seventh straight victory on Saturday, a 3-0 win against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in the Western Conference championship match at Swope Soccer Village.
Swope Park, an affiliate for Sporting Kansas City, will travel for the USL Cup on Oct.
