Sporting beat the daylights out of a bad Colorado Rapids team in a preseason match last night. The display was fun to watch if you root for the Boys in Blue, but it’s hard to take too many lessons from a game like that. The one lesson I did take is simple: Sporting should sign Kenny Cooper.
The news that Kenny Cooper, the journeyman forward who has seemingly played professionally for 27 years, was on trial with Sporting in Tucson didn’t seem to excite the Sporting base. I confess that I can’t make a strong case that anyone in Sporting Nation should be honest-to-goodness excited at the prospect of Cooper joining the team, but I think he would be a good addition.
