The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-16s won two of three games over the weekend in the final preliminary round of the 2017 Generation adidas Cup at Houston Sports Park.
After falling to Toronto FC on Friday, the U-16s rebounded with a pair of shutout victories to finish third in the Central qualifying region — behind FC Dallas and Toronto FC and ahead of the Chicago Fire, Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew SC.
The U-16s failed to qualify for the Generation adidas Cup Championship Division but will still travel to the tournament’s final round, competing in the Premier Division from April 7-15 in Frisco, Texas.
