The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-13s and U-14s were crowed US Youth Futsal Central Regional champions this weekend after sweeping through the competition at multiple venues throughout Johnson County, Kansas.
Led by head coach Colby Childress, the U-13s posted a 3-0-0 pool play record before earning a 4-2 semifinal victory over Blackhawks FC in Sunday afternoon’s semifinal. Sunday night’s championship at MidAmerica West Sports Complex resulted in a 12-1 win against RISE 06.
The U-14s were just as successful under Childress’ guidance, notching three consecutive wins in pool play to set up two competitive matches in Sunday's knockout rounds.
