Sporting Kansas City will formally honor Neal Patterson tonight at Children’s Mercy Park when the club hosts FC Dallas in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.
Patterson, a principal owner of Sporting KC and the long-time Chairman and CEO of Cerner Corporation, passed away Sunday at age 67 due to complications that arose after a recent recurrence of a previously disclosed cancer.
To commemorate Patterson’s legacy as an iconic business and sports entrepreneur, a moment of silence will be observed before kickoff and the Honoree Seat in the Victory Suite will be left open in his honor.
