Sporting Kansas City announced they have signed Andrew Dykstra a one-year contract with an option for 2018. The team claimed him in Stage Two of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 22nd.
Dykstra, 31, was the primary backup to D.C. United’s goalkeeper Bill Hamid. The veteran goalkeeper brings seven years of experience as a backup and occasional starter with Chicago and DC United in MLS and Charleston Battery Richmond Kickers in USL. He has appeared in 31 regular season games with seven shutouts and an 11-11-8 record.
"When we lost Alec Kann in the Expansion Draft, we knew we wanted to fill that role with a veteran of MLS," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said via press release.
