Sporting Kansas City defender Lawrence Olum put the ball in the net twice Sunday. The first time was a clear own goal, obvious to most everyone in Children’s Mercy Park except the referees.
Olum found the correct goal the second time, getting his head to Benny Feilhaber’s free kick in the 43rd minute. It was the opening salvo to Sporting KC’s 2-0 victory over FC Dallas.
It was just the second victory in 12 matches for Sporting KC, 6-8-3, dating back to April 9. It also marked the first time the club earned points in consecutive matches since consecutive draws on April 27 and May 1.
