Four days after their season ended in a vexed fashion, Sporting Kansas City players trickled into their training facility Sunday for the final time in 2016. The closing meeting absorbed much the same feeling as the penultimate one — glum and quiet.
On a day in which they had planned to play in the Western Conference semifinals, they were instead left to assess how the year had finished — with Sporting KC on the wrong end of key referee decisions in a 1-0 loss to Seattle.
