Sporting KC forward Khiry Shelton undergoes successful surgery to repair lateral meniscus tear

Sporting Kansas City forward Khiry Shelton will be sidelined for two to three months after suffering an MCL tear and a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee during last Saturday’s match against Toronto FC.

Shelton underwent successful surgery to repair the lateral meniscus tear on Thursday under the care of Sporting KC’s chief medical officer Dr. Scott Luallin.

Shelton has recorded two goals and two assists in 16 MLS appearances since joining Sporting KC last December. He spent his first three MLS seasons with New York City FC, where he tallied six goals and 10 assists from 2015-2017.
