Sporting Kansas City defender Seth Sinovic walked off the practice field Tuesday morning, his jersey dripping with sweat. He joked that it appeared as if he had just jumped into a swimming pool.
In reality, the drenched clothing was a byproduct of an hourlong training session on a day in which the heat index reached triple digits. He can expect more of the same throughout the week, too.
After years of moving its practices to early-morning hours during the summer months, Sporting KC has instead maintained its 10 a.m. schedule this season.
Why? Preparation.
The next two Sporting KC matches will be played in the middle of July afternoons in Kansas City.
