Sporting Kansas City is on the verge of solving its biggest offseason predicament.
The club has agreed to a two-year deal with star midfielder Benny Feilhaber, sources told The Star on Tuesday. The agreement is pending league approval, the source said.
Feilhaber, who has led Sporting KC in assists in each of the past two seasons, was out of contract this offseason. He told The Star last month that he was mulling offers from overseas clubs, and Sporting KC rejected a transfer offer for Feilhaber in the late summer window.
Under the new collective-bargaining agreement signed last offseason, Feilhaber will be a free agent when the two-year pact expires.
