Major League Soccer’s primary transfer winder officially opened on Tuesday, allowing teams to acquire new players through international transfers or trades within MLS.
This year the primary transfer window runs through May 8. Any transfers not completed during the primary window can take place during the secondary transfer window, which runs from July 10 to Aug. 9.
- MLS Primary Transfer Window: Feb. 14 – May 8, 2017
- MLS Secondary Transfer Window: July 10 – Aug. 9, 2017
Clubs can publicly announce transfers and trades outside of these two windows, but a player cannot officially be added to a team’s roster until his International Transfer Certificate is transfered, which must happen within one of the two windows.
