Second-half goals from Ike Opara and Gerso keyed Sporting Kansas City to a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
Opara continued his sensational run of form by heading the visitors ahead in the 61st minute — his fourth goal during the month of June and his second in as many games — before Gerso sealed the win with a classy finish in second-half stoppage time, snapping Sporting Kansas City’s five-match winless skid against the Dynamo across all competitions.
