MLS, Sporting and other clubs speak out against racism and social injustice

Major League Soccer on Monday released a statement in the wake of nationwide protests following the May 25 death of George Floyd while in custody of Minnesota police.

A white officer has been charged with the murder of Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, after kneeling on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes, despite pleas that he couldn't breathe.
