MLS Expansion Draft: Alec Kann drafted by Atlanta United FC

With the ninth overall pick, and fifth pick for the team, Atlanta United FC selected Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Alec Kann in the 2016 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday.

Kann had recently re-signed with Sporting Kansas City with that announcement coming only hours before he was taken by Atlanta. He is under contract through 2017 with options for 2018 and 2019.

Atlanta currently only have one keeper on their roster in Alexander Tambakis, but have been rumored to be contenders for U.S. international Brad Guzan, and recently flipped Sean Johnson to New York City FC. They also selected Toronto FC starting keeper Clint Irwin with their third pick.
