Minnesota United FC to Enter Major League Soccer in 2017

Major League Soccer today announced that Minnesota, awarded an expansion market in March of 2015, will join the league for the 2017 season. In addition, the club will retain the name Minnesota United FC when entering MLS next season.

Minnesota United FC owner Dr. Bill McGuire today announced that the team will compete in TCF Bank Stadium during construction of their world-class soccer specific stadium in St. Paul, Minn.

“We are proud to officially announce that Minnesota United FC will join Major League Soccer in 2017,” said Commissioner Garber. “The ownership group’s commitment to soccer and the community, the area’s growing millennial population and the region’s rich tradition of supporting soccer at all levels are key indicators that this will be a very successful MLS market.
