FC Kansas City announced on Thursday that they had traded backup goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland to Western New York in exchange for two draft picks.

Both picks are 2017 second round draft picks.

Blues' general manager Huw Williams said in the press release that this move was to give Rowland a chance to have more immediate playing time and that it wasn't a move they necessarily wanted to make.

Rowland played behind starting keeper Nicole Barnhart ever since Rowland was drafted by the Blues in 2015. She made three appearances in 2015 for FCKC and hasn't made an appearance yet in 2016.
