Details around the the 2020 MLS Roster Freeze Date

As teams continue to fine-tune their rosters ahead of the push for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, a few key dates are on the horizon.

This season's MLS Roster Freeze is the same day as the Secondary Transfer Window's deadline day, which is Oct. 29. Both dates were pushed back after the league was suspended for a few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are typically a few weeks between the end of the Secondary Transfer Window and the Roster Freeze date, though the 2020 season has been anything but typical.

On Oct. 29, all 26 clubs will submit a final roster that cannot be changed until after the MLS Cup final, except for moves in accordance with the Extreme Hardship rules and procedures: When an MLS team has fewer than 14 available outfield players or fewer than two goalkeepers available.
