Across State Lines: The NWSL Returns

The National Women’s Soccer League returned to action this week with the start of the Challenge Cup in suburban Salt Lake City and players from the Kansas City were well represented in the first games of the tournament. In the opener, Lee’s Summit native, Addisyn Merrick started for the two time defending champions, the North Carolina Courage. Merrick went 57 minutes in her professional debut for the Courage as they won 2-1 over the Portland Thorns. In the late game on the opening night, Dorian Bailey from Mission, Kansas was a substitute for the Washington Spirit as they topped the Chicago Red Stars.
