Across State Lines: Nielsen Out in Hartford

Former Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper, Jimmy Nielsen’s second stop on his coaching career will only be for one season. Last week, Hartford Athletic announced that the club and Nielsen had mutually agreed to part ways. Hartford had finished their expansion 2019 season with a 8-21-5 record, finishing 17th of 18 teams in the USL’s Eastern Conference, ahead of only Sporting’s affiliate, the Swope Park Rangers. Nielsen came to Hartford after a year off after leaving the Oklahoma City Energy having a 54-44-38 record over four seasons with the club. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to duplicate the success he had in OKC where he made two Conference Finals and a Conference Semifinals in his four years there.
