Across State Lines: Kamara Moves to Colorado

The MLS offseason barely waits for the season to be over before it kicks into high gear. Hours after Atlanta United lifted MLS Cup, they were making their roster decisions for contract options picked up and declined. Days later, MLS held the expansion draft for FC Cincinnati, who kick off in the 2019 season. While Sporting Kansas City couldn’t have a player selected after losing Latif Blessing last year to Los Angeles FC, a former player was selected. Kei Kamara was taken by Cincinnati with their second pick of the draft. Kamara was only an FC Cincinnati for seconds though as he was immediately traded to the Colorado Rapids for an international roster spot.
