Across State Lines: De Jong Gets New Contract

Marcel De Jong’s time with Sporting Kansas City did not go well for the Canadian international, brought in as competition for Seth Sinovic at left back before the 2015 season, De Jong played in just 13 games, starting 11 and playing just 847 minutes for KC. He was let go after the season and after a short stop with the Ottawa Fury, signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps. De Jong has since been a solid contributor for the Whitecaps, appearing in 28 games, starting 22 of those games. His contribution has earned him a contract extension.
