The Southern Miss women’s cross country team took second place at the C-USA championship meet hosted in Clinton, Misissippi. The second-place finish was the best team finish in school history in the conference meet.
Ten points separated the Golden Eagles (87) from third place Rice (95) and fourth place Alabama at Birmingham (97). Charlotte captured the conference championship title with a score of 64 points.
The key to the Golden Eagles finish was the strong pack they had together that a 30-second spread which Southern Miss was the only team able to accomplish.
