Stars and starters were dropping like flies before and during Southern Miss’ win at Louisiana Tech last week.
Quarterback Kwadra Griggs sat out his third straight game. Linebackers Sherrod Ruff and Walden Davis both dressed out but neither one could go. Receiver Jaylond Adams, fresh off his first 100-yard game, did not play. Ty Pollard, a stalwart along the offensive line, got banged up and missed several plays. Right tackle Jerry Harris went down and did not return. Ito Smith missed the entire second half with cramps, according to coach Jay Hopson.
