Why Southern Miss believes it could have 2 pros in its 2020 recruiting class

The Southern Miss men's basketball rebuild might have received a jump start.

The Golden Eagles made a splash to round out this year's signing class by bringing in DeAndre Pinckney, a forward from Broward Community College.

Pinckney, the No. 16 nationally ranked prospect by jucorecruiting.com, averaged team highs 16.8 points and eight rebounds per game this past season. The 6-foot-8 wing averaged 18.3 points and 9.3 rebounds as a freshman. Southern Miss said he had offers from Ole Miss, Rutgers, St. John’s and Virginia Tech among other schools.

“He’s very versatile,” Southern Miss men’s basketball head coach Jay Ladner said.
