Southern Miss football’s recent roller coaster-esque history has been well documented.
From a program-worst 0-12 season in 2012 to a combined 4-32 over the next two seasons to a resurgence in 2015 that featured a 9-5 mark and a Conference USA West Division championship, the Golden Eagles have been through the lowest lows and a number of highs.
Some of the more experienced players on the current roster have seen their careers mirror the ups and downs of the past four seasons, including redshirt senior guard Oliver Bates and redshirt junior cornerback Trae Collins.
The veterans struggled with focus, consistency and injuries early in their time at Southern Miss.
