HATTIESBURG - Following Tim Lynch's selection in the ninth round of the MLB draft on Friday, a pair of his teammates joined him as draft picks Saturday.
Right-handed pitcher Jake Winston and catcher Chuckie Robinson became the second and third Golden Eagles taken in this year's selection process. Winston, a senior, was tabbed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 17th round with the 509th overall pick. He's the first Southern Miss player since Jeff Cook in 2003 to be drafted by the Diamondbacks.
Shortly afterward, Robinson was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 21st round with the 637th overall pick.
