HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss remained in search of Todd Monken’s replacement late Thursday.
According to FootballScoop.com sources, Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier emerged as “a very strong candidate” late Wednesday. The same media outlet also reported Thursday that Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran was in the running. However, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman quickly refuted that report.
FootballScoop.com later reported UAB head coach Bill Clark, Alcorn State head coach Jay Hopson and Nussmeier were still up for the post. Shortly afterward, though, Clark told AL.com reporter Drew Champlin he has no interest in leaving the Blazers.
"I am 100 percent staying at UAB to do what we set out to do," Clark told AL.
