SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Southern Miss struggled one way or another almost across the board in Saturday’s 55-32 loss at UTSA.
Offense. Defense. Special teams. And just about every facet under those three umbrellas. Perhaps none more glaring, however, were the Golden Eagles’ shortcomings on offense in crunch time late in the game.
Southern Miss fell behind big early against UTSA, trailing 21-0 in the first quarter. But the Golden Eagles fought back, cutting the lead to 35-21 late in the second quarter.
After UTSA carried a 38-21 lead into halftime, the Golden Eagles took the second half kickoff and marched to the Roadrunners' 10-yard line.
