Nick Mullens threw five touchdown passes in Southern Miss’ first full intrasquad scrimmage of spring camp Saturday.
The Golden Eagles squared off at M.M. Roberts Stadium for more than two hours as the team is just past the halfway mark of camp. Junior receivers Isaiah Jones and Marquise Ricard each came down with two scores, while Mullens also hit junior running back Ito Smith on a screen pass that he took in from 31 yards out for a touchdown.
However, Southern Miss coach Jay Hopson’s initial evaluation favored the defense.
“I thought the defense probably had the upper hand today,” he said.
