Tanner Hall leads Southern Miss baseball to win over James Madison in Sun Belt Tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A first-inning double against Southern Miss baseball ace Tanner Hall on Wednesday at Riverfront Park might have fooled unfamiliar onlookers into thinking his right arm was mortal.

But those who know these Golden Eagles could have predicted what happened next.

The Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year posted nine outstanding innings of one-run ball against James Madison, powering the Golden Eagles to a 7-1 victory in their SBC Tournament opener.

Southern Miss (38-16) will take on Troy (39-18) on Thursday (4 p.m. CT, ESPN+) after the Trojans rallied to beat Appalachian State in the early game Wednesday.
