Stats and standouts from Southern Miss' second fall scrimmage

HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss held its second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday night, one in which coach Jay Hopson said he was looking to decide a handful of lingering position battles.

While it's yet to be known who might've won starting jobs in places like the secondary and defensive line, Saturday's scrimmage did go a long way toward solidifying Jack Abraham as Southern Miss' best option at quarterback.

Abraham wasn't his most accurate self, completing less than half of his passes, but he did account for three touchdowns in the scrimmage and attempted almost twice as many passes as the other two quarterbacks combined, showing the opportunities the coaches are giving him.
