A two-hour lightning delay was no deterrent for the Southern Miss soccer team, as it took its first win of the season in a 7-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe. Southern Miss leads the all-time series between the schools with a 6-1 record, outscoring the Warhawks 26-4 in those contests.
“Anytime you get a win at home starting the season it’s a good confidence builder for a young team of freshman and sophomores,” Southern Miss head soccer coach Mohammed El-Zare said. “I thought we played well throughout the game. We did what we had to do. We took our chances when we got them.
