Southern Miss (4-3, 2-1) hoped to remain perfect in Conference USA action last Saturday when the Golden Eagles faced Louisiana Tech on the road in the Rivalry in Dixie.
Instead, the Golden Eagles made the roughly four-hour trip back to Hattiesburg after suffering a 45-30 loss to La. Tech in a hard fought battle, mainly due to missed opportunities and poor execution down the stretch of the game.
When Southern Miss plays against Louisiana Tech — which currently sits atop the C-USA West division — it is almost always a solid battle of two top-tier division teams.
