Southern Miss (7-8, 1-1 C-USA) got its first conference win of the season against UTEP (3-11, 0-2 C-USA) and at the same time snapped a six-game losing streak, which is the longest losing streak for the program since 2013.
“Our staff is excited for our first of many C-USA wins, hopefully,” Southern Miss Head Coach Stephanie Radecki said. “I’m proud of our team for their fight today.”
The Golden Eagles opened the first set with a 5-1 lead with a kill from senior Sarah Bell and an ace from freshman Kellie Garraway to build the early lead.
