For the second time in less than two weeks, Southern Miss landed a prized football recruit from Brookhaven High.
On the heels of last week’s pledge by offensive lineman Trace Clopton, Brookhaven cornerback Jemaurian Jones announced his intentions to sign with Southern Miss Friday on Twitter.
Jones, a member of The Clarion Ledger’s Dandy Dozen who has 34 tackles and two interceptions as a senior, is a consensus 3-star prospect and holds offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCLA and others, according to 247sports.com.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder has reported 4.45 speed. Increasing the team’s overall speed is something Southern Miss football coach Jay Hopson has made a concerted effort to address since taking over in 2016.
