The leading scorer for the Southern Miss men's basketball team has entered the transfer portal.
Rising junior Gabe Watson announced his decision on Friday afternoon via social media.
"First and foremost, I want to thank God for the opportunity to play for USM," Watson wrote in the announcement. "I appreciate every one of the coaches for the impact they have had on me."
He went on to thank assistant coach Clarence Weatherspoon for recruiting him out of St. Joseph Madison. He also thanked his teammates "for the effort they put in" every game.
"I have enjoyed playing for USM these last two seasons but I have decided to enter the transfer portal to further my career.
