SAN ANTONIO — There were those whose faith in Southern Miss was shaken.
And it wasn’t altogether unwarranted. Fresh off a two-score home loss to North Texas in their Conference USA opener, the Golden Eagles entered Saturday’s game at Texas-San Antonio heavy underdogs. The team was also returning to the Alamodome, which has been its own personal house of horrors since the Roadrunners joined the league. Southern Miss got hammered 55-32 last year, and lost there on a last-second field goal in 2014.
