Southern Miss' Jay Hopson: Recruiting 'is taking precedence for us'

Southern Miss practiced Thursday evening for the first time since beating Marshall on Nov. 25.

The Golden Eagles (8-4) will return to the field for the final time in 2017 on Dec. 27 (12:30 p.m., ESPN), when they travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to face Florida State (6-6) in the Independence Bowl.

Even though the team got back on the field to begin preparing for the Seminoles, head coach Jay Hopson said recruiting is still the primary focus. The NCAA’s 72-hour early signing period begins on Dec. 20.
