There likely won’t be any last-minute announcement regarding Southern Miss’ starting quarterback this week.
Following last week’s loss at Tennessee, football coach Jay Hopson told reporters redshirt junior Kwadra Griggs will likely get his first start since Sept. 30, when the Golden Eagles hit the road to face Rice at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Griggs, who missed three games with an injury to his left hand, has been called upon in the fourth quarter of each of the last two games in relief of sophomore Keon Howard.
Hopson left room for a change of heart, saying he will make a final determination after he breaks down the game film from last week’s contest.
