MIAMI — Southern Miss blew out Florida International 13-1 in seven innings Sunday to take two of three on the road.
The 13th-ranked Golden Eagles’ series victory is their ninth in a row versus Conference USA opponents. The team improves to 24-11 overall, 10-4 in league play and 11-0 following a loss. It now sits a half-game behind first-place Florida Atlantic which lost to UTSA Sunday.
Mason Strickland (1-0), making the first start of his Southern Miss career, gave up one run in four innings to pick up the win.
